Tim van Wanrooij is a Counselling Psychologist and goes by the pronouns he/him. Tim has over 13 years of experience in the mental health field and is a former Social Worker in The Netherlands and more recently is a Counselling Psychologist in Ireland. He has worked in NGO’s, private psychology services and HSE-based psychology services, both inpatient and outpatient facilities. Tim has extensive experience with a diverse range of individuals, couples and families, and has helped clients in areas such as anxiety and depression, sexuality, relationships, trauma and personal development.
Tim has also published videos on relationships and mental health related topics. And during his Doctoral training in Counselling Psychology, Tim was a team supervisor at the 24/7 Irish crisis text line Text 50808.
Tim’s professional interest in practice and research include anxiety, romantic and couple relationships, sexuality and LGBTQI+ wellbeing and relationships. And has previously research experience regarding high sensitivity and the ideologies of renowned therapists.
Tim offers psychological therapy in both English and Dutch.
Tim’s approach to psychological therapy is grounded in evidence based and integrative practice, drawing on Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Psychodynamic Therapy (PD) and drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Tim recognises that the individual therapeutic approaches is always tailored in collaboration with the individual client, this means that he collaborates with the person to establish a therapeutic way of working that fits best for them in that moment.
Tim’s Qualifications & Education
Tim van Wanrooij completed his doctoral training Doctorate in Counselling Psychologist at Trinity College Dublin. He is a Graduate Member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) M.Ps.S.I. And completed his H.Dip. Psychology, also at Trinity College Dublin and his Bc. Social Work in The Netherlands.
