Qualifications & Education

Sarah is a qualified Counselling Psychologist with current Registered membership of the PSI (Psychological Society of Ireland). Sarah attained her honours degree in Psychology at the School of Psychology, Trinity College Dublin and has over 8 years experience working in the Irish health service in a variety of settings.

Sarah went on to complete her masters in Global Health through the TCD School of Medicine, studying public health in an international context. During this course of study, Sarah followed her interest in gender issues completing research on gender based violence and the related psychological and social impact of these experiences.


Sarah completed her three-year Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology training at the TCD School of Psychology. During this time, Sarah completed a number of placements working with children and adolescents with behavioural, cognitive, and emotional difficulties; adult with mental health difficulties in community settings, as well as adults with chronic and acute mental health difficulties in psychiatric settings. Sarah also gained more specialised experience working in Cardiac and Oncology settings, relating to people’s experiences and related difficulties coping with a life-threatening illness, living with a terminal disease and experiencing the bereavement of a loved one.

Sarah has a particular interest in adult mental health and specifically suicide prevention. In order to explore this, she carried out her doctoral research investigating the lived experience of attempted suicide, from which she developed a model of suicidal behaviour which can be used to understand and design interventions to assist people experiencing suicidality or recovering from a suicidal experience.

In her clinical work, Sarah employs an integrative approach based in a Person-Centred approach and values, whilst drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Psychodynamic approaches to tailor psychological intervention to the individual’s needs.
