Niamh has worked in various settings including youth services, family support centres and private practice. As well as offering support in the areas of depression, anxiety and stress, Niamh is widely experienced in supporting clients through the complex nature of difficult relationships and the emotional and psychological trauma that is associated with this. She is experienced in working with a variety of presenting issues from a diverse range of cultures.
Coming from an integrative approach, Niamh uses different theoretical models to best support the client. These include Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Systemic. Niamh also incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy depending on the needs of the client. The techniques Niamh uses are evidence based and adaptable to suit each individuals needs ensuring they are gaining the most from counselling.
Niamh aims to support each client in a warm and non-judgemental way by creating a safe and confidential space for individuals to explore and deal with their difficulties in their own time and at their own pace.
Niamh’s Qualifications & Education
Niamh is a fully accredited counsellor and psychotherapist graduating in 2017 and completing a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2019. As well as a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy she is trained in offering support for those who have experienced sexual assault and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills.
