Colin is a fully accredited and register member of the FTAI ( family therapy association of Ireland) the ICP (Irish Council of Psychotherapy) and the EAP (European council of psychotherapy) He has 17 years experience working in a diverse range of contexts spanning the community, residential, voluntary and NGO sectors. In this time he has worked with families and individuals experiencing considerable adversity through the impacts of trauma, substance misuse and addiction, complex mental health issues and other family and relational challenges.
Colin has worked across a number clinical settings offering therapeutic interventions to families, adolescents, couples and individuals. These have included the Clanwilliam Institute, HSE counselling in primary care (CIPC) , Genesis family therapy service, HSE RIAN counselling service, Tusla school completion project and other private practice settings. Colin has complimented his training throughout with further research and continued professional development in the areas of trauma, mindfulness and body orientated approaches.
Colins theoretical background is in the post modern, systemic, collaborative and dialogical approaches. This is a holistic and integrative approach based on what is most useful for the client and their unique circumstances. Central to the collaborative approach is the value placed on the client and their innate knowledge of their own life experience alongside that of the theory and evidence base.
