Ceara worked in a support and advocacy role for almost 20 years from the education setting to the wider community working with people from all backgrounds particularly those at risk of leaving education early. She has worked as a psychotherapist for the past 10 years, connecting clients with community resources creating accessibility to a wide variety of supports. She has solid experience in wellness coaching and has been a clinical supervisor collaborating with many other therapists since 2020.
Ceara’s approach to counselling is collaborative and enable the individual to develop their own self-navigating skills, promoting empowerment, independence and healthy relationships with self and others.
In order to deepen the therapeutic process and move towards the active exploration of the client’s experience, Ceara uses a variety of approaches, Person Centred, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Solution Focused Brief therapy, Gestalt, Choice, Rational emotive, Behavioural, Cognitive Behavioural therapy and Trauma Informed Practice.
Qualifications & Education
Ceara holds a:
- Postgrad Degree in Clinical Supervision from the University of Derby, UK
- Bachelor of Arts (Higher & Ord) Degree in Counselling Skills and Psychotherapy Studies, from the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences, Limerick
- Certificate for Technologically Facilitated Counselling
- Certificate in Special Educational Needs from Choláiste Mhuire Gan Smál, Limerick
Ceara is an accredited member of the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland (APCP) abides by their code of ethics.
