Qualifications & Education
Ali is a qualified Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with a Clinical Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (MAPPI) from UCD. She is an accredited member of the Association of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Ireland (A.P.P.I) and a registered practitioner with the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (I.C.P). Ali also holds a BA (Hons) in Social Science, a BA in Social Studies, a diploma in Addiction Psychology, a professional certificate in Suicide Prevention (ASSIST) and a professional diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Part of Ali’s training in clinical psychotherapy was a St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin. This model of training included an in-depth analysis of cases involving bipolar disorder and body dysmorphia and infant observations.
She has keen interest in early intervention in children's mental health and has worked for almost 10 years with both adolescents and adults presenting with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, addiction, family breakdown and work-related stress. She also has experience in addiction and relationship counselling as well as corporate wellness.
Ali’s approach is primarily psycho-dynamic and psychoanalytic however she also draws upon Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy where clinically appropriate.
