Qualifications & Education
Alexandra is a Clinical Psychologist and a current graduate member of the PSI (Psychological Society of Ireland). Alexandra has a degree in Clinical Psychology from Egas Moniz, Higher Institute of Health Sciences and a Masters in Psychology - Psychotherapy from the Department of Psychology at the University of Lisbon. She also completed post graduate training in Clinical Hypnosis and Psychodynamic Clinical Psychology at the departments of Medicine and Psychology at the University of Lisbon. Alexandra is continuing her professional development with a PhD in Psychology in University College Cork.
In the last 12 years Alexandra has been practicing with a wide variety of clients ranging from adults, children and adolescents at risk, inmates, cancer and MS patients and their families. She has treated depression, anxiety, phobias, bereavement and trauma providing individual, group, couples and family therapy. Alexandra has experience in conducting psychological assessments and has given workshops and lectures to health science graduate students in communications, health psychology and developmental psychology. She has contributed to research, conferences and publications in the areas of health psychology, client communications and clinical hypnosis.
In her clinical practice, Alexandra uses psychotherapeutic integrative techniques stemming from psychoanalysis, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, family therapy, clinical hypnosis and mindfulness.
Alexandra’s focus in her approach to therapy is the client with empathy a foundation of her therapeutic process.
